Vehicle Description

This is a well documented 1980 Y84 SE "Bandit" Trans Am. This car is an excellent example of a clean original car that has been taken care of. Its not a trailer queen but its a great driver. Original right down to the stereo and space saver spare with inflation cartridge. This car is loaded up with the "Y84" special edition package which means it has the black and gold "Bandit" trim / decal package along with the top of the line engine for that year which was the 301 4bbl Turbo. This car also has the T-Tops, upgraded "Hobnail" dark camel interior, premium sound ( which means cassette), Soft ray glass all around, rear window defrost, cruise control, and best of all, - the WS6 performance package. The WS6 package comes with the heavy duty sway bar and "RTS" radial tuned suspension with the 15 X 8 aluminum "Turbo" rims. The Y84 and WS6 is what set the TRANS AM apart from the other wannabe's of the time. This car drives and handles exceptionally well and is a tight driver even today.  There is no vibration in the steering wheel, even at high speeds. The car corners flat - no body roll, just keeps its composure and goes where you point it.  It also has PS, PB, A/C, Tilt, Cassette, and rear defrost.  The T-Tops don't leak and they don't rattle. This car is exceptionally tight and true.

The only things that aren't stock are the usual - tires, brakes, plugs, etc. It currently has the snowflake rims on it but I have the original stock rims that will go with the car. The car runs very smooth and the turbo comes on smooth and steady. The automatic transmission shifts quick and crisply through all the gears at their correct shift points. The car has been taken very good care of through the years and I have all the receipts to prove it. The engine had a major overhaul in 1995 (with receipts to prove it ) and the turbo was completely rebuilt at the same time.

The car is Pontiac Historical Services documented and has all the original brochures, owners manuals, warranty papers, etc and they are all in excellent condition.

Some background on this particular car. It was built in Van Nuys, California and was the 62,215th car off the line that year. The interior is the Dark Camel Lombardy "Hobnail" premium interior with the Starlight Black exterior with the "Bandit" trim package. It has the Fisher T-Tops (Code CC1) and there were only 3444 of these cars made for 1980. It was rated at 210 @ 4,000 RPMs and the torque at 345@2000 RPMs. This is a true Pontiac torquer engine!! Maximum turbo boost is achieved at 3500 RPM's and is a mild 7.5lbs. The rear gear ratio is 3.08 so its even fun to drive on the 75 MPH highways of today. And, if you keep your foot off the floor, it even gets respectable mileage.

The car has always used synthetic oil and had regular changes. I recently put new plugs and wires in it and its running great. The car comes with both sets of rims, a cover, 4 extra hub caps, and an extra flare, as well as all the paperwork.
